What are Guides?

Guides take part in indoor and outdoor activities that challenge them to do their best.

Guides choose and plan most of their own activities, which can include theme evenings, trips and all sorts of fun! There are often other opportunities for Guides to take part in special activities and events throughout the year. The unit goes away on holiday, to camp or on overnight sleepovers. Guides are members of GirlGuiding UK, the largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women in this country. It has about 600,000 members.

Any girl aged ten or over can be a Guide. The oldest Guides are usually about 14 years old. Membership of Guides is open to any girl over ten as long she is able to understand and willing to make the Guide promise.

The Guide promise is:

I promise that I will do my best:
To love my God
To serve the Queen and my country
And
To keep the Guide Law

How do I join Guides? If you want to take part in the fun of Guides, either as a Guide, or as an Adult Leader or helper, you can get details from Sarah Shelton 07825286335.
